Here we are in beautiful Corvallis, Oregon.
Kate and Ella and myself.
We left UBC at 9am this morning - myself having not slept yet on account of having written an essay, and ripping apart my room looking for my passport (but to no avail.)
Peace Arch border gave me no troubles, so southward bound we continued - Kate in the drivers seat, Ella passenger, and myself sprawled out in the back.
After reaching Seatle, I came to and got some camera action out the window.
We three spent the next hour on the way into Tacoma in heated discussion involving rezlife, university affairs, politics and probably some branch of philosophy.
We stopped in Tacoma (which for the record is an absolutely CHARMING little town - reminds me a lot of New West) for lunch, and then I took over the wheel as we continued down I-5.
Kate and Ella slept while i cranked the throttle up to 80mph until we had to gas up in Katama. From there, it was another hour until the Columbia River, Portland, and our entrance into the State whose name graces the title of the state university we were en route to attend.
About an hour later (6pm-ish), we reached our destination at the Salbasgeon Suites in downtown Corvallis.
Nice digs for a two night trip! Girls on the huge bed, me on the couch (or rather, whatever you call those couches which pull out into a bed.)
Free internet (hence the emails and this blog) and microwave, television, etc.
*only critique so far: I walk into the lobby with my empty plastic bottle, kindly ask the gent at the desk if he had ¨a recycling bin handy¨ He proceeded to kindly accept my bottle and deposit it directly into a general garbage recepticle. I didnt appreciate the grin on his face...)
After a quick freshening up session - we went off to Clodflipper pub or something like that. Met with Ellaś old UBC Student Recruitment colleague Erin who is here doing Masters Student Affairs.
Erin brought two of her colleagues along, and the whole dinner was an absolutely invaluable conversation about life and study in student affairs. Quite good. (as was their two local microbrews I took the opportunity to sample).
Back at the hotel here, girls are wrapped up in GREYŚ ANATOMY - so here i am on the internet.
Looking forward to the NWACUHO conference tomorrow morning at OSU. More to come, stay tuned...
